Luke 24:31

Luke 24:31
A question posed here
In the breaking of bread
Why Jesus disappeared?

Jesus came to earth
Through Father and Mother
As both God and man
Still He was an “other”

He said, He had to go
But know on that day
I’ll live in Father
And in you the same way

With His last supper
He gave us the clue
My body and blood
Given up for you

Receiving communion
Of such intimacy
No longer as “other”
But one incarnate in me

(based upon words by Henri Nouwen)

Final Destination

After years of searching
I’ve become aware
Through lessons of grace
This wisdom to share

Our final destination
Is not a place
But it is of
Gods’ eternal embrace

In all that we do
Joys and sorrows to bear
We can always know
That God’s love is here

Offered in this moment
Bound within a prayer
Claim this destination
Let heaven appear

(based on words by Henri Nouwen)

The Path is Made

You can’t think your way
To a new way of living
You have to live your way
To a new way of thinking

The journey is not
About the talking
The path is made
With each step of walking

Get into the river
Guided by prayer
Get into the current
Let it take you there

For you have blessed
And a purpose true
For today is the day
Of the first step for you

Relating to Nature

When we relate to
Just our needs of seeing
Nature does not
Reveal it’s true being

When a tree is
Nothing but a chair
It ceases to tell us
About growing here

When a river is
Just a dumping place
It no longer speaks of
The movement of grace

And when a flower is
A plastic decoration
It has little to say of
The beauty of creation

Natures not a possession
Let’s change our attitude
For it’s a gift to receive
With respect and gratitude

(based upon words by Henri Nouwen)

Four Ways to Discern

Practice of discernment
Through Spirit this day
How God speaks to us
In four different ways

Spoken through nature
Of His beauty shown
In feeling of Presence
His love is known

In the written Word
Through Spirt we find
Media a medium
To enlighten the mind

Souls of encounter
Placed in our way
The things of our God
Through people this day

In current events
His wisdom to claim
To reflect and respond
In His holy name

To read in daily life
What’s God calling me to
It’s a beautiful way
If we live it true

On You My Favor Rests

You are not good enough
Prove your value
You have to perform
Success to pursue

These voices speak loudly
But you have a choice
Seek now the silence
To hear His gentle voice

Through Jesus our Savior
This truth to profess
You are my beloved
On you my favor rests

Repeat it again
Your soul to be blessed
You are my beloved
On you my favor rests

Know it in your soul
With faith to attest
You are my beloved
On you my favor rests

(based upon words by Henri Nouwen)

Now & Then | Henri Nouwen

Given

He took, blessed, and broke
Then He gave the bread
A miracle to all
Five thousand souls were fed

And for His last supper
Again, He took and blessed
He broke and He gave
His love to friends, professed

The chosen One was blessed
On His cross was broken
God incarnate, given
He is the Word spoken

Walking to Emmaus
With bread of which to share
Took, blessed, broke and gave
Our Lord to them appeared

And so, as His beloved
Through Him, spiritually
Chosen, blessed and broken
And given, let us be

Based upon words by Henri Nouwen

Unique Love

Coming from our heart
Within found when we pray
Each of us is called
To love in a new way

No two be the same
Of God’s love to portray
Through us becomes incarnate
In variety of ways

Passionate or hidden
Or gentleness, convey
Each showing God’s love
In our unique own way

God’s love is so rich
And such a vast display
It takes every soul
Of each so show the way

So, let us each shine
Our light here this day
Sharing of God’s love
In our own special way

(based upon words by Henri Nouwen)

More Here

I want to be more here
Here, because I know
That you, my God, are here
Let this knowledge flow

I know that you love me
And all I need is here
Therefore, here I will sit
A grateful heart to share

To thank you, faithful God
With I AM as Your name
To thank you for your Son
To be with us, we claim

Thank you for the Spirit
So deeply flowing through
Though sometimes I don’t feel it
I know it to be true

Just as I am breathing
A feeling that’s sublime
And so, I know You’re with me
Though, don’t feel it all the time

(based upon words by Henri Nouwen)

In This Moment Here

God sent us the Spirit
Let us be aware
To be of His dwelling
In this moment here

Practice of present
To nurture and grow
The seed of the moment
Of Spirit to know

Stay where you are
Of being allow
Tasting the fruit
Of God with us now

Of Spiritually living
Of our God’s view
That’s somethings at work
He’ll reveal to you

And so be here
Be quiet and still
In fullness of moment
The soul to be filled

(based upon words by Henri Nouwen)
